Freelance Scrum Master
We are looking for a pragmatic Scrum Master to support around 5 teams with varying levels of Agile maturity. The focus is on inspecting and adapting to each team's needs, while helping to build a stable, sustainable environment.
What you'll do
As a Scrum Master you help individuals adopt the right mindset and behaviors, support teams in embracing continuous improvement, and enable the wider organization to collaborate effectively with the Agile teams. Your guiding principles:
- Both soft skills and hard skills
- Facilitate over solve
- Adapt to the need over going by the book
- A healthy, working team over a working product
You work in a fact-based way: you measure and collect data (delivery metrics, team health, customer satisfaction) so teams can track the impact of their improvements on their delivery.
You are part of the wider Agile community:
- Main mission: integrate and support 5 teams, improve their way of working and strengthen their culture.
- The equivalent of two days a month is dedicated to community events and knowledge sharing.
What we're looking for
- Proactivity, with the ability to act across the whole system (beyond the individual team) without losing sight of the individual team members
- Genuine passion for metrics and an evidence-based development approach
- A lived understanding of the Agile mindset (values and principles) — you apply it to yourself as well
- The ability to give positive, constructive feedback that drives improvement
- Full autonomy: you plan and run Scrum activities independently while staying aligned with the community's goals
Experience
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master (minimum 3 years)
- Worked with at least 2–3 different teams as a Scrum Master
- Experience outside an IT context is a plus
- Experience across more than one company is a strong plus
Skills & languages
- Fluent English is mandatory + fluent French OR Dutch
- Mastery of several Agile project/product approaches (Scrum, Kanban, etc.), to adapt to each team's needs
- Strong facilitation skills, both virtual and in person, with a focus on creating the right environment for the team
- A strong interest in innovation and a willingness to experiment with new techniques
- Knowledge of Design Thinking methods and tools (nice to have)
- Knowledge of UX design/development frameworks (nice to have)
