Functional Tester / Analyst (Freelance)

Brussels area | Hybrid (2 days remote) | Long-term assignment

About the role

For one of our clients  we are looking for a Functional Tester / Analyst to strengthen their Digital department. You will join a product team responsible for an end-to-end solution supporting field inspections and maintenance activities, used by both field staff and back-office teams. The product sits within the Asset Applications domain and integrates with SAP PM, geospatial asset management tools, and information management systems.

What you will do

You will start with a strong focus on functional and end-to-end testing, with the opportunity to grow into a broader functional analyst role as your business knowledge develops.

In your first phase, you will:

• Review analysis deliverables from other analysts (functional system specs, interface specs, …)
• Own the test plan: preparation, organization, execution and follow-up
• Design and run manual test scenarios and identify automation opportunities
• Take ownership of non-functional, exception flow and regression testing
• Help define acceptance criteria for User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Act as SPOC between key users and the product team for all testing-related matters
• Together with the project manager, define and challenge the test approach (risk vs. quality vs. timing)

As you grow into the role, you can take on:

• Requirements gathering and translation into clear user stories
• Functional documentation using UML & BPMN (use cases, activity diagrams, information models)
• Domain interface specifications (DDD)
• Estimation and planning facilitation
• End-user support, release notes, user manuals and training

Your profile

• Trilingual: fluent in Dutch and French, good working knowledge of English
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
• Hands-on, problem-solver, comfortable working autonomously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable in agile, multi-stakeholder environments

Technical skills

• Solid testing background, including mobile applications, stability and stress testing
• Familiarity with a structured test methodology (TMap, STBox, ISTQB) and risk-based testing
• UML, XML, JSON, SQL
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (or similar), UML modeling tools (Sparx EA), and documentation tools (Confluence, MS Office)

Nice to have

• ISTQB certification
• Knowledge of SAP PM (S/4HANA)
• Background in the energy sector or asset management domain
