Functieomschrijving
The Business Program Lead plays a pivotal role in SNCB’s digital transformation, acting as the bridge
between the central program teams and the business. The objective of the Business Program Lead is to
support the end-to-end process owners in delivering the expected results and ensuring alignment with
the directorate stakeholders.
This role ensures that organizational change initiatives are effectively set up and embedded within
SNCB’s directorates, preparing them for new ways of working and technology adoption. Partnering closely
with the business-appointed change coordinators and aligning with executive sponsors, the Business
Program Lead drives the shERPa transformation agenda, connecting program strategy with the envisioned
future operating model.
 
The Business Program Lead coordinates all business-related activities for the program (e.g. test activities,
data cleansing and validation, change and training,…) and identify organizational change.
By orchestrating end-to-end business transformation activities, this role enables the business to realize
measurable outcomes, ensuring both organizational readiness and sustainable value delivery.
 
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning: Lead and manage the overall business transformation roadmap for the shERPa
program, ensuring alignment with program objectives: Harmonisation, Back to standard, Simplification
and Keep the core clean.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for organizational change, creating actionable plans that
prepare the business for adoption.
- Partner with sponsors and senior stakeholders to shape the future operating model and ensure
readiness across directorates.
- Proactively assess and mitigate risks and dependencies to ensure successful delivery of
transformation initiatives and adherence to ambitioned business outcomes.
Program delivery:
- The Business Program Lead will challenge actively the business in case of deviation from the
program objectives.
- The Business Program Lead coordinates all business-related activities for the program (test activities, data cleansing and validation, change and training,…)
- Coordinates resolution of cross-functional and cross-directorate integration topics in case of
escalations.
- Joint Accountability for Timelines: In close collaboration with the shERPa Program Director (IT)
and shERPa PMO, the Business Program Lead is jointly responsible for respecting the overall
program delivery timelines. This includes ensuring that all key milestones and projected go-live
dates are achieved as planned. The Business Program Lead proactively monitors progress,
addresses risks or delays, and works with stakeholders to safeguard the timely and successful
execution of the transformation agenda.
 
Program Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Lead cross-functional teams through complex change initiatives (e.g., technology rollouts,
organization redesign, shifts in roles and responsibilities,…).
- As a trusted advisor, collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure transformation initiatives align
with strategic objectives and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members involved in transformation
projects.
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and drive value realization throughout the transformation
lifecycle.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with C-level executives, E2E process owners and
business leaders to foster buy-in and support for change initiatives.
- Drive effective communication and change adoption across all impacted groups, leveraging
Change & Transformation Coordinators assigned by the directorates.
- Actively manage stakeholder expectations, balancing program constraints with business needs.
Change Enablement:
- Implement robust change management frameworks that is already available, including impact
assessments, readiness plans, and training strategies.
- Collaborate with Change & Transformation Coordinators to embed, tailor and sustain the change
locally.
- Monitor and measure the progress and impact of transformation initiatives, providing regular
updates and reports to stakeholders.
Foster a culture of agility and continuous improvement.
 
Conformiteitscriteria
• Minimum 15 years of experience in business transformation programs
• Minimum 5 years as Program Manager on large-scale transformation programs
• Experience managing stakeholders at C-level (CEO, CFO, CIO)
• Experience in change management and adoption within transformation programs
• Experience coordinating cross-functional programs involving at least 3 business domains
• Languages: English, French, Dutch – minimum C1
• Availability to be in the office on Tuesday and Thursday
 
Evaluation criteria
• Experience in SAP S/4 HANA environments
• Experience in the railway or mobility sector
• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments
• Proven experience in business process transformation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving experience in complex environments
