Freelance Senior Functional Analyst – Insurance Sector – Brussels

For one of our clients active in the insurance sector, we are currently looking for a Freelance Senior Functional Analyst to strengthen their IT team within the Life business domain.

You will join a dynamic environment where business and IT closely collaborate to design, build and maintain applications supporting life insurance products and contract management.

Your role

As a Functional Analyst, you will be responsible for translating business needs into robust IT solutions.

• Analyse high-level business requirements and translate them into functional specifications
• Design end-to-end solutions (UI, business logic, data architecture)
• Follow up on implementation together with developers
• Define and execute functional and integration test cases
• Ensure alignment between business, IT and testing teams
• Support project managers in scope definition, planning and delivery
• Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously

You will work closely with project managers and stakeholders and play a key role in delivering high-quality solutions.

Tech environment

• Backend: COBOL (Microfocus), SQL Server
• Modern stack: C#, .NET, APIs (REST/SOAP)
• Tools: Visual Studio, CI/CD pipelines, MS Office
• Architecture: distributed systems & integrations

Your profile

• 5–8 years of experience as Functional Analyst / Business Analyst
• Experience in insurance or banking (Life insurance is a strong plus)
• Strong background in functional analysis and solution design
• Experience working in complex IT environments and large-scale projects
• Good understanding of development environments (.NET, APIs, databases)
• Able to read code and write SQL when needed

Practical

• Location: Brussels (2 days onsite)
• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 12 months (extension possible)
• Languages: English + Dutch and/or French
